Dear Persimoni – 3 months…
My friend and fellow blogger, Kate writes these great letters to her boys. I always think they are something fabulous but haven’t had time to write them for my girls. I think it’s finally time. I know I’ve missed Cedi’s first 4 years and Capri’s first 3 but I can start with Pip and try to keep it up. Pip will miss out on things her sisters got and she didn’t (like TONS of pictures and new clothes) so this is something special I can start for her right away. Hopefully I can keep it up.
Dear Persimoni,
You are three months today. I’ll admit, the first few months I was a bit overwhelmed by you. You ate A LOT! I still look back and I can’t believe how much sitting on the chair or couch I spent nursing you. I wouldn’t trade it for the world though. You are a happy, healthy, plump (well, at least the plumpest of our three girls), little girl. And SO Strong! The other day you were having some tummy time and you manage to scoot forward a bit (well…maybe half and inch – but still you scooted!). I sit you up near me and you can prop yourself up with your arms and you love sitting and chilling in the Bumbo.
You spend a lot of time in the swing – both sleeping and awake – for two reasons. 1. You like it in there and 2. it protects you from your sisters. They love you so much but sometimes they love you a little too much and having you off the ground keeps you safer.
I love to snuggle you and play with you. You don’t sit in my lap much anymore – instead you prefer to stand. We just have to smile at you and you give us a big, beautiful, toothless and contagious smile back.
Overall, you’ve become a pretty easy baby. You cry when you’re hungry, tired or being ignored (which would be when you’re awake riding in your car seat – traveling is not super fun right now…). All easy things to fix (except the traveling bit) and then you’re back to being my beautiful, happy baby. You’re still not sleeping super amazingly – up between 2 and 3 and then again around 5 or 6. It could be way worse though so I’m not complaining.
I look at you and my heart melts. My stomach drops and I fall in love with you more and more each time. I can’t wait to watch you grow and develop into even more of your own little person.
I love you Persimoni, my little Piptini,
Mom
Read MoreTwo Week Marathon Comes to an End
I try really hard to not get my kids involved in too many things at once. I completely failed at that this summer.
We just finished up our marathon swimming lessons. They were Monday through Thursdays from 10:30-11:00 for two weeks. Both of the girls were in the Sea Turtle Class at the Prairie Athletic Club. It was a challenge for me to get all the girls ready and out the door at a specific time everyday (thank you Grandma for taking Wednesday’s for me!) BUT the girls’ swimming skills improved DRASTICALLY with the skills being reinforced each day. Capri has become slightly timid about things and still needs to work on some skills so she’s going to be in Sea Turtles for at least one more session. BUT Cedi has blossomed so much from last summer and is not afraid of the water at all. She has graduated into the Penguin class! I can’t wait to bring Papa swimming with the girls so he can see how much they’ve improved even since our trip up Nort’.
On Wednesday night’s in July the girls had ballet class. This went from 5 to 5:30. I have the girls in this together as well because I wanted to see how they did in the same class to see if I could keep them together this fall. I think I’m leaning towards splitting them up just so Capri has a chance to be her own person but I’m not sure. I’ll have to chat with Miss Erin and see what she thinks…
If you’re in the Poynette area, be sure to contact Miss Erin about the upcoming fall session. She does such a great job with the girls’ and I can vouch that my girls absolutely adore her.![]()

And finally, this past week, the girls started gymnastics on Monday nights (5:30-6:30). Which means we had one week that we had swimming, ballet AND gymnastics – it was a bit tiring to say the least. The first night of gymnastics went really well and the girls ask me every night how long it is until they go again. I have a feeling this is something they’re both going to really love.
I’ll have to try to plan a bit better next summer…I’m exhausted just writing this all out…
Read Moreup nort’ for the fourth
The week before the fourth was a weird one for me. On Monday, the girls and I headed up to DePere to visit my grandma’s and for me to drop the two older girls off for a week with Grandma and Grandpa Van. It was oddly (but enjoyably) quiet on the ride home and for the next four days. The girls and had lots of fun and Pip and I had lots of fun. It’s so crazy how easy just one seems after you’ve had three – I still remember the overwhelming days when Cedi was my only baby. Just having Pip seems almost like having no kids.
Anyway, on Saturday after Pip’s early morning feeding we packed up the van and headed up nort’ to Fence to meet the Grandma, Grandpa, and our two oldest girls.
The girls were happy to see us but more importantly – they were happy to see Pip.
We had a lot of fun up north. Gratefully, Grandma Van watched Pip while we took the older two girls to the beach to swim.
Cedi & Capri with ‘Dippy the Dolphin’ (named by Grandpa Van)
I’m not sure if I’ve ever talked about this before but I LOVE to swim. I truly LOVE it. It feels like I never get to actually swim anymore since I always have to be within an arms reach of the girls in the pool which is usually only a foot or two deep. This weekend that all changed. The girls had their life jackets on and their hearts set on swimming to the raft. We got there early enough that the ‘big’ kids hadn’t commandeered it yet so we headed out to the raft. It felt so good to actually swim again – and we stayed in the water for awhile too.
The girls lasted in the water for as long as they possibly could. We continually asked if they were cold and wanted to go in but they refused until you could tell it was time. And then we headed to the sand, wrapped them in their towels and let them warm up on the sand.
Cedi could have lived in her life jacket if we let her…
Saturday night was fireworks over the lake. We all bundled up in our long sleeves (except my mom) and waited patiently for the fireworks to start. They didn’t start until 10pm. The girls had not taken naps. On the plus side, I can’t remember the last time Capri fell asleep in my arms – she was out cold before the fireworks started. Unfortunately she didn’t get to see the beautiful light display.![]()
Cedi lasted in Grandpa’s arms for just over half of the show and Persimoni made it the longest – lasting until just before the grand finale.
On our last night up north we had to sit by the fire and enjoy some s’mores.
Grandma did all the prep work and
Grandpa helped the girls toast their marshmallow’s.

A delightful and memorable treat!
I’m already looking forward to our trip next year to see what memories we make.
Read More6th Anniversary
On June 25th, Jared and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary! I am so happy and amazed that I been blessed with this amazing man.
One thing we’ve started doing on our anniversary is heading up to the Dells for some mini golf. This year we decided to celebrate with the whole family.
Mini golfing with the ‘ladies’ was either going to be super fun or full of whining. Thankfully – it was super fun and we’re already getting asked when we’re going again!
Capr was amazingly good at mini golf (even if she does have a weird swing…)
Cedi was okay but seemed to have a left-handed disadvantage. I beat Papa by seven strokes and was the only one to get a hole in one (in fact I got TWO!) even while I was carrying Pip. ![]()

Another fabulous anniversary has passed and I can’t wait for many, many more to come!

Our next off-season challenge comes from a friend of mine – Kym of FabricFascination and Kimbuktu. Here’s what she’s challenging you to:
I would like to do a Non-Quilt Quilt challenge. The entries can be anything from a bag, to a sculpture, to a wearable, to an accessory, really anything as long as it is made of fabric and is three dimensional (not flat like a quilt). The entry must also incorporate at least two items or textures that are not fabric.
Kym is planning on participating in this challenge as well and will be incorporating ‘Christmas in July’ into her ‘non-quilt quilt piece’ using the fabrics you see above.
As a bonus, everyone that participates in this challenge will have their name entered into a drawing for a fat quarter bundle of the fabrics shown above! How fabulous is that!?
THE RULES:
- Have FUN! These off season challenges aren’t about winning a prize – they’re about being inspired to create something you may not have in the past. I can’t wait to see all the non-quilt quilted items!
- Please remember that these projects need to be created during the time frame of the challenge.
- If you need advice/tips/help (or you just want to give us all a sneak peak) with your project as you work on it feel free to post pictures to the flickr group: Project QUILTING WIP:http://www.flickr.com/groups/1430386@N24/
- POST your entries with a description of your creative process, including where you are (ie, I create in Madison, WI) and the size of your project by Sunday, July 31st, 2011, at noon, CDT, to this flickr group – Project QUILTING with KimsCraftyApple:http://www.flickr.com/groups/1401824@N21/ OR email a picture/description of your completed project to {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line . ( 3 weeks to finish the challenge)
- If you do want people to truly critique (the good and the bad) your project please post it to the Flickr Group: Project QUILTING – Critiques
- If you have an idea for an ‘off season’ challenge which includes a miniature feature about you on my blog please email me at {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com}.
