30.  Spinning Pinwheels Sashing

a Tutorial for the Home Sweet Home Quilt Along

Cutting Instructions:

002Cut 4 sets:

2 – 2.5” x 2.5” square dark

2 – 2.5” x 2.5” squares light

Directions

003On each of the lighter fabric draw a line with a washable marker from one corner to the other corner.

004With right sides of the light and dark fabrics together sew a line a quarter inch on either side of the line you drew.

005Now cut on that line and iron fabrics towards the darker print.     006Square each of these pieces to 2” x 2” 007Arrange them to look like a pinwheel and as show in the picture above.   008 Sew the four pieces together.  Iron towards the dark fabric in the first two seams.  It doesn’t matter which way you iron in the last. 009 Repeat this with all four sets of fabrics so you have four pinwheels measuring 3.5” square.010Arrange them how you like and sew together.  An beautiful 3.5” x 12.5” sashing that looks more complicated than it is.

We’ll be coming back to this pinwheel method in some sashings coming up so I’ll see you here again soon!
