hide your love away
This is “Sweet Bass”. In honor of my sons 16th Birthday. My 1st paper piecing my first art quilt and much more!! Read about it later on my blog fosteringothers.blogspot.com/?m=1
“Every Fiber of Her Being”
Made by Pam Geisel of For Quilts Sake in Yellow Springs, Ohio, June 2013 and entered for the Project Quilting Bonus Challenge, “Texture.”

My creative process and how I made it:
As a fiber artist I’ve always loved the phrase “With every fiber of my being” so I decided to do a literal interpretation of that phrase.
Is this a self portrait? Well, I’m a pale woman who wears glasses. My hair is blonde (and currently shorter than here) but not only didn’t I have any yarn that was close in color to my hair.
The doily was the main inspiration for this quilt and it is couched to the background with a matching thread. In order to add even more texture I couched the yarn for the hair. The glasses and face are hand stitched.
This idea was from an old vacation picture from Alaska. We walked along the edge of the water and turned into a thickly wooded forest. It was dead calm and you could see paths and light peek through but it was very dense with trees and overgrowth.

Woven Quilted Tote Bag
I raw edge wove a tote bag using the Robert Kaufmann Modern Quilt Block fabrics. I love the movement that was created by using such a ‘blocky’ print and then weaving them together. I was inspired by the woven texture on a chair that I am refinishing.
Now that we’ve looked at all the Texture projects created let’s see who wins.
The girls are all sleeping so I have to do the drawing a bit differently – don’t worry…
Here’s a cute picture of Pip (and grandma) since she didn’t draw the winner.
So – since my picker’s are all sleeping I’m assigning numbers to each participant by when they put their entries into the flickr group…
1 – erinrebeccaz
2 – tjtruesdale
3 – forquiltssake
4 – KrisTMJ
and then I headed over to random.org to see who won
a $20.00 Gift Certificate good towards for Extra Wide Fabric and Shipping!
The random number generator picked number 4 so congratulations to KrisTMJ!
Great job everyone! The Project QUILTING off seaosn challenge for July is up if you’re interested – INDEPENDENCE.
