Posted by on Jul 29, 2013 in Featured, giveaway, sponsors | 132 comments

Yeah!  I’m super excited to announce that I have yet ANOTHER fabulous giveaway to share with you this July!  We’re almost to the end.  I have less than 3 days to finish my July Goals…so so close.

Anyway – back to the amazing giveaway from my fabulous sponsor – Fabrics N Quilts.

simply sweet

Shannon wants to share with a lucky winner a 1/2 yard bundle of these five new gorgeous Simply Sweet-Lief  fabrics! My personal favorite of the five have to be the tree and house print…but most of you know I have a sweet spot for trees and houses.

One of my favorite things about Fabrics N Quilts (besides the amazing customer service, great fabric selection, and overall support in all my crazy ideas) is the Scrap Quilt Challenge that Shannon has been running for the last three years.

The rules and guidelines for the 3rd Annual Scrap Quilt Challenge are up!  Go check them out, grab your scrap bins and get sewing!  You have until October 15th.

I participated in the 2012 Scrap Quilt Challenge and it was what inspired probably the coolest quilt I ever made…

Pop Up Outdoor Quilt Show

the Amazing Technicolor Dream Quilt (the rainbow quilt in the middle…).  Challenges are definitely my thing – they inspire me to make things that I have been dreaming about but haven’t been able to find the time to get to…I hope to find some time for the third challenge.  Regardless – the ATDQ showed me what amazing results can be achieved by using JUST YOUR SCRAPS!  I have been working through my bins for this last year and will have some fun quilts to show you soon!

July is a bittersweet month for me.  It’s the last month before apple season.  While I’m excited to have apples to sell again and see all the amazing folks that come and visit us each season.  I’m going to miss my free time just hanging with the girls and spending time in my sewing room.

To celebrate July I’m going to be hosting quite a few amazing giveaways!

This week we’re going to start with a giveaway from one of my fabulous sponsors and one of my favorite places to shop for fabric online – the Fat Quarter Shop.

They had me look through their ‘What’s New’ Fabric Section and pick out a few of my favorites for this giveaway.

My top favorite was the Road 15 Collection by Sweetwater.

Road 15 selectionI just love so much about it – the color scheme, the small prints, the houses and trees, the ‘road’ theme – did you know that I’m a ‘retired’ civil engineer?  Maybe it has to do with that…road 15And lucky for you all the Fat Quarter Shop has offered to giveaway a Jelly Roll of the Road 15 line!

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I’ve been meaning to get this post up sooner but I just got a new computer yesterday and it came with Windows 8.  I have a lot to learn!  So…I’m back on my old computer so I can share with you a guest blog from a good friend and incredible sponsor – Chris Daly of DyeCandy.

Untitled Greetings from Southwestern Wisconsin!    My name is Chris Daly.  I am the owner of Dye Candy Fabrics.  My hand dyed fabric business has been a proud sponsor of Project Quilting for the last three seasons.  I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to sponsor such a great challenge group.  All of you that participate should be very proud of your work.  It takes a lot of talent to take an idea and turn it into a creative vision in just a few days.

I am an art quilter at heart and I have to say the last challenge “Annie’s Vision” is my favorite challenges so far.  I can’t wait to see what Kim and Diane have in store for the next challenge.  Kim, our thanks to you for all the hard work you have put into these challenges!!

I am hosting a giveaway on my Dye Candy blog starting Wednesday morning February 13th and it runs through next Tuesday. I will be giving away one $25.00 gift certificate good towards a purchase at Dye Candy Fabrics for every 100 entries.  If the number of entries reach 500 then the value of the gift certificates increase to $50.00 each.  Please stop by for up to 3 chances to win.  Wishing you all good luck!!   Chris

Project QUILTING – Bringing Back the Public Vote – Prizes Requested!

Posted by on Feb 6, 2013 in Featured, Project QUILTING, season 4, sponsors | 2 comments

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I’m just doing a quick post as I only have a few hours to spend on my Project QUILTING Challenge piece this week…

Anyway – Diane and I were chatting and we’re going to bring back the ‘Public Vote’ for these challenges.  After everyone has their pieces in, I will post a ‘Public Vote’ post.  Here people can come and vote for their favorite quilt of the week!

I am hoping to find a few sponsors for these to add to the fun!  Whoever wins (gets the most votes) this week will at the very least get a pdf copy of my ‘Spinning Nines’ pattern.  I would love to add to this mix if anyone is willing to donate any prizes – if I get enough I would love to do a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner for the next four weeks.  I would also love to ‘bulk’ up the ‘GRAND PRIZE’ for this season…

If you are interested in donating ANYTHING for either of these things please email me at:  lapaceksorchard (at) gmail (dot) com or comment on this post and I can get a hold of you!

Thanks for your support!

Dye Candy: A Project QUILTING Season 4 Sponsor

Posted by on Jan 6, 2013 in Featured, Project QUILTING, season 4, sponsors | 1 comment

The first Season 4, Project QUILTING Challenge goes up in just a few hours!! SERIOUSLY!?  I can’t wait for this season to get going!  I wanted to tell you about one more of our sponsors this season before we got going and I’ll fill you in on the others throughout the week!  This morning we’re going to meet Chris Daly of Dye Candy Fabrics.

Have you followed along with previous seasons of Project QUILTING or is this your first time?

I’ve been following project quilting since the first season.  I love to see how everyone interprets the challenges and how creative all the finished quilts are.

If you have followed along do you have a favorite challenge or project?

Entries for Project Quilting - Season 3, Challenge 5 - It's Where I Live

My favorite quilts are from the “Where I Live” challenge but “Tool Time” was a close favorite.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find my inspiration from walks in nature, photographs and from so many creative bloggers.  Thanks for sharing your techniques and creative works!

Do you have a favorite fabric line?  If so – what is it right now?

Recently most of what I create uses my hand dyed or hand painted fabrics.  I love batiks from Hoffman and so many of the modern fabrics and colors currently on the market.

What is your favorite thing about the winter months?

More time for sewing and fabric dyeing!! Eighty percent of what I create happens once the weather turns cold.

Anything you’d like to share about your store with my readers please do so!

I love dyeing fabrics!  After 5 years of selling fabric I still get excited when washing away the residual dyes. I play and experiment every chance I get.

Most of the hand dyed items sold in my Dye Candy Store were dyed or created by me.  You can find Dye Candy Fabrics on Etsy and at quilt shows in Wisconsin and Illinois.

  • Cotton – dyed in mottled solid and colors gradients
  • Silk – for quilting and garment construction

  • Silk Velvet – pieces dyed with Art Quilting and Crazy Quilters in mind
  • Wool – in deep and bright colors

Don’t miss any of Chris’s Dying adventures – be sure to find/follow/like her on her sites:

Thank you Chris for your support of the 4th Season of Project QUILTING!  It’s going to be amazing!
