Giveaway at DyeCandy!

Posted by on Feb 13, 2013 in fabric, Featured, giveaway, sponsors | 0 comments

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I’ve been meaning to get this post up sooner but I just got a new computer yesterday and it came with Windows 8.  I have a lot to learn!  So…I’m back on my old computer so I can share with you a guest blog from a good friend and incredible sponsor – Chris Daly of DyeCandy.

Untitled Greetings from Southwestern Wisconsin!    My name is Chris Daly.  I am the owner of Dye Candy Fabrics.  My hand dyed fabric business has been a proud sponsor of Project Quilting for the last three seasons.  I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to sponsor such a great challenge group.  All of you that participate should be very proud of your work.  It takes a lot of talent to take an idea and turn it into a creative vision in just a few days.

I am an art quilter at heart and I have to say the last challenge “Annie’s Vision” is my favorite challenges so far.  I can’t wait to see what Kim and Diane have in store for the next challenge.  Kim, our thanks to you for all the hard work you have put into these challenges!!

I am hosting a giveaway on my Dye Candy blog starting Wednesday morning February 13th and it runs through next Tuesday. I will be giving away one $25.00 gift certificate good towards a purchase at Dye Candy Fabrics for every 100 entries.  If the number of entries reach 500 then the value of the gift certificates increase to $50.00 each.  Please stop by for up to 3 chances to win.  Wishing you all good luck!!   Chris

Project QUILTING – Bringing Back the Public Vote – Prizes Requested!

Posted by on Feb 6, 2013 in Featured, Project QUILTING, season 4, sponsors | 2 comments

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I’m just doing a quick post as I only have a few hours to spend on my Project QUILTING Challenge piece this week…

Anyway – Diane and I were chatting and we’re going to bring back the ‘Public Vote’ for these challenges.  After everyone has their pieces in, I will post a ‘Public Vote’ post.  Here people can come and vote for their favorite quilt of the week!

P8240258-001

I am hoping to find a few sponsors for these to add to the fun!  Whoever wins (gets the most votes) this week will at the very least get a pdf copy of my ‘Spinning Nines’ pattern.  I would love to add to this mix if anyone is willing to donate any prizes – if I get enough I would love to do a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner for the next four weeks.  I would also love to ‘bulk’ up the ‘GRAND PRIZE’ for this season…

If you are interested in donating ANYTHING for either of these things please email me at:  lapaceksorchard (at) gmail (dot) com or comment on this post and I can get a hold of you!

Thanks for your support!

Dye Candy: A Project QUILTING Season 4 Sponsor

Posted by on Jan 6, 2013 in Featured, Project QUILTING, season 4, sponsors | 1 comment

The first Season 4, Project QUILTING Challenge goes up in just a few hours!! SERIOUSLY!?  I can’t wait for this season to get going!  I wanted to tell you about one more of our sponsors this season before we got going and I’ll fill you in on the others throughout the week!  This morning we’re going to meet Chris Daly of Dye Candy Fabrics.

Have you followed along with previous seasons of Project QUILTING or is this your first time?

I’ve been following project quilting since the first season.  I love to see how everyone interprets the challenges and how creative all the finished quilts are.

If you have followed along do you have a favorite challenge or project?

Entries for Project Quilting - Season 3, Challenge 5 - It's Where I Live

My favorite quilts are from the “Where I Live” challenge but “Tool Time” was a close favorite.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find my inspiration from walks in nature, photographs and from so many creative bloggers.  Thanks for sharing your techniques and creative works!

Do you have a favorite fabric line?  If so – what is it right now?

Recently most of what I create uses my hand dyed or hand painted fabrics.  I love batiks from Hoffman and so many of the modern fabrics and colors currently on the market.

What is your favorite thing about the winter months?

More time for sewing and fabric dyeing!! Eighty percent of what I create happens once the weather turns cold.

Anything you’d like to share about your store with my readers please do so!

I love dyeing fabrics!  After 5 years of selling fabric I still get excited when washing away the residual dyes. I play and experiment every chance I get.

Most of the hand dyed items sold in my Dye Candy Store were dyed or created by me.  You can find Dye Candy Fabrics on Etsy and at quilt shows in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Marcia’s Crafty Sewing & Quilting: A Project QUILTING Season 4 Sponsor

Posted by on Jan 3, 2013 in Featured, Project QUILTING, season 4, sponsors | 0 comments

We’re getting to crunch time folks!  The first Project QUILTING Challenge is posted in just over 3 days!  Seriously – do you have your sewing space ready ?  Cutting table cleared off? Rotary cutters ready?  I am getting really close which I’m pretty proud of.  Of course, as I’m cleaning and reorganizing I keep getting more new ideas.  I’m hoping I can incorporate some of them into these Project QUILTING challenges!

marcia morning

Morning Glory Bloom

As we get closer I want to feature another great sponsor of Project QUILTING.  I met Marcia at a Quilts by Barb Quilt Retreat and we hit it off right away.  Marcia’s been a sponsor and participator of Project QUILTING since the second season and it’s good to always have her support, energy and enthusiasm about my crazy ideas.   I also want to note when I first met Marcia she ONLY used blues in her quilts!  They were amazing – but they were all blue!  I think you’ll see as the season progresses…she’s definitely left her ‘square’.

Let me introduce you to another great sponsor of Season 4 of Project QUILTING -

Marcia Wachuta of Marcia’s Crafty Sewing and Quilting

IMG_1212Marcia Wachuta!

Have you followed along with previous seasons of Project QUILTING or is this your first time?

This will be my 3rd year. I have participated and sponsored the last 2 years (Season 2 and 3). and one of the summer off season challenge. My favorite challenge was Project QUILTING, Season 3, Challenge 1 – Architectural Elements

Quilts Built by Imagination

Where do you find inspiration?

In every day things — In the colors around me, textures, and patterns.

I see quilts everywhere

What is your favorite thing about the winter months?

I quilt and sew a little bit more than I do during the summer. But I sew and quilt all the time! Three summers ago, I started a container garden to try another hobby. It inspired my quilting and I created even more quilts!

We’re at the less than a week moments before the first quilt challenge of Season 4 Project QUILTING is posted.  I am beyond excited.  I’m also beyond excited to introduce you to our first thread sponsor for Project QUILTING!

Let’s give a warm welcome to Superior Threads and learn a little bit more about some of the unique and fun things they offer!

I found the History of Superior thread really interesting and wanted to share it with you:

Superior Threads began in 1998 as an at-home business by husband and wife duo, Bob and Heather Purcell.  Superior Threads was started out of the Purcell’s garage, and now spans over a 25,000 sq/ft facility in the red rocks of St. George, Utah.

Thread of the Month Clubs are very popular over at Superior Threads.

As I was checking out Superior Threads’ site I also noticed a Block of the Month club.  I may have to try it out – you all know I’m a BOM Addict!

Deal of the Day offers a new item on sale every day.  I personally love these – I always love to see what kinds of deals are going on.  Since I got my ‘long’ arm I’ve been experimenting with different thread times and the ‘Deal of the Day’ has helped make this affordable for me!

Superior Threads also has a free twice-a-month educational e-mail newsletter.  To subscribe to read previous Newsletters: https://www.superiorthreads.com/newsletters/
