Anyone that brings a completed ‘Home Sweet Home’ Quilt to Show and Tell at the 2012 Quilt Retreat Getaway Weekend hosted by QuiltsbyBarb will receive a $10 gift certificate to the quilt shop at the retreat in honor of the 10th anniversary.
Additional qualifications for the above prize: The Home Sweet Home Quilt must include on the front at least 12 of the 16 blocks from the Quilt Along. It must also include at least one of the blocks designed by Kim Lapacek, Diane Lapacek, and Barb Raisbeck.
Thank you so much to Barb Raisbeck of Quilts by Barb for giving both of the finished quilt makers a $35 gift certificate to the retreat quilt shop! That was very generous of you and I’m sure the ladies loved it! It was great seeing the finished quilts too!
Happy May 17th everyone! Today is the start of one of my favorite two times of the year – the Spring Edition of the Blogger’s Quilt Festival over at AmysCreativeSide!
If you’ve never been at my blog before – Welcome! and for those who have – Welcome Back!
The first Quilt I would like to enter into the Blogger’s Quilt Festival is my ‘Home Sweet Home’ Quilt Along Quilt in the ‘Group or Bee Quilts’ Category.
This quilt was created with 20 different blocks (17 designers) and 49 different sashings created as a result of...
Seriously- there is only two Home Sweet Home Sashing tutorials left! And this post is one of them! I can’t believe the end is in sight!
Fabric 1 (Pink w/ apples) : 14.5” x 1.5” strip
Fabric 2 (Green): 14.5” x 1.5” strip
Fabric 3 (Checkered Pink) 14.5” x 1.5”
Sew Fabrics 1 and 3 to either side of Fabric 2. Iron towards Fabric 2. Cut four 3.5” squares out of the 14.5” x 3.5” strip you just created.
Arrange the four squares in the same manner as you can I did in the sashing just below Block 14,...
I have decided to just ‘rip the band aid off’ so to speak and finish up the last three of the Home Sweet Home Quilt Along Sashing Tutorials. Next up – another easy one:
17. 8 Rectangles
One of the bad things about procrastinating so long on some of these tutorials is that I’m having a hard time finding the pictures I took during the progress or I’m realizing that I didn’t take pictures. Since this tutorial is really, really simple I’m just going to go without good step by step pictures.
The sashing ‘8 rectangles’ can...
Okay – this next sashing tutorial for Home Sweet Home Quilt Along is so simple I figured I’d share it with you right away.
36. Tri Strips Sashing
Fabric 1- strip 1.5” x 12.5”
Fabric 2 – strip 1.5” x 12.5”
Fabric 3 – strip 1.5” x 12.5”
Sew Fabric 2 to Fabric 1 along the 12.5” side. Iron towards the darker fabric.
Sew Fabric 3 to Fabric 2 along the 12.5” side. Iron towards the darker fabric. And that’s it! You have a simple but different 3.5” x 12.5” sashing!
The Tri Strips...
I can’t believe that the end is in sight for the 49 different Home Sweet Home QuiltSashings! I knew it was going to be an undertaking just making 49 different sashings but I have to say – posting the tutorials has been way more work than I thought it would be. I apologize that it’s taken me so long to finish the job. Alright – here goes the next one:
Sashing 32. Nine Patch Centered in Red
We’re going to make 2 sets 2 of nine patches for this sashing. It’s important that your Fabric 1 and Fabric 2’s are opposite of...
